McCain: Gadhafi Has 'Days or Hours'

Moammar Gadhafi's gig is up, according to John McCain, who today told Face the Nation that Libyan rebels' victory is "a matter of hours, if not days." "I believe that it's nearing the end," McCain said, who cautioned about the difficulties in transitioning to democracy, but said ultimately, "we will be rid of a guy that has the blood of Americans on his hands." And of course McCain didn't miss his chance to take a shot at President Obama's Libya policy, noting that "I grieve a bit, because this conflict didn't have to last this long. We led from behind." Elsewhere on the Sunday shows circus circuit, as per Politico:

• Jon Huntsman on Michele Bachmann's $2 gas: “I just don't know what world that comment would come from. You know, we live in the real world. It's grounded in reality. And gas prices just aren't going to rebound like that."
• Robert Gibbs on Obama's vacation: “This happens every time a Republican or Democrat—somebody goes on vacation and there’s this big hullabaloo. The presidency goes with you wherever you go.”
• Rick Santorum on endorsing Mitt Romney in 2008: “I endorsed him when it looked like it was going to be a choice between Governor Romney and John McCain. And in that race, I really felt anybody but McCain was the best solution."
• And on spending $26 million to lose his last race by 18 points: “What people look at was the last race I ran, which was a miserable election year for Republicans. It was a meltdown in Pennsylvania, and I got swept out like everybody else. George Bush was about a 36% favorable. It was a miserable year.”
• Karl Rove on Sarah Palin 2012: “If she doesn’t get in next week, I think people are going to basically say, ‘She’s not in, she won’t be in and if she gets in, I’m not going to be for her.' You can only tease so many times in the political process and I think she’s getting to the end of that."
• Former White House spokesman Bill Burton zings Rove: "As someone who was a leader in the White House who turned a record surplus into a deficit, that got us in a war that we never should have been in and turned the floor of the new York Stock Exchange into a casino, I don't think the American people are ready to hear a lecture from you on good government."
