DSK to Resume Bid for Presidency?

If the judge dismisses the sexual assault charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn today as expected, Strauss-Kahn could be on a plane bound for France within hours—and ready to re-enter the French presidential race, reports the Guardian. Although Strauss-Kahn missed the July deadline for joining the Socialist party's primary, another leading Socialist candidate appears to think it possible DSK could still join in: "Whatever has been said, a man with the abilities of Dominique Strauss-Kahn can be useful to his country in the months and years to come."

Party officials say they aren't sure if Strauss-Kahn could vie for the party's nomination, saying it was "complicated" and he would need the agreement of the six candidates currently in the running. But other analysts say the scandal's fallout has hurt DSK too much. "Anything can happen, but I think there's little chance he will be able to return to high level politics," says a French pollster.
