What you’re looking at is the skull of a man who’d just accidentally impaled himself with the dull end of a pair of gardening shears—and lived to tell the tale. Leroy Luetscher, 86, dropped his pruner point-down while doing yard work, the Arizona Daily Star reports. When he bent to pick them up he lost his balance and fell on them, sending the handle through his eye socket and into his throat. Luetscher was rushed to Tucson's University Medical Center, where surgeons removed the pruning shears, rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh, and even managed to save his eye. That was four weeks ago; today, Luetscher is little the worse for wear, save for some swelling and minor damage to the eye. Read These Next Kristi Noem: I was 'blindsided' by news about my husband.
