This past week has not been a good one for Christine O’Donnell: First she had a rather disappointing showing at a Florida book signing, then she was dropped from a Tea Party rally. The book signing, held Wednesday in “staunchly Republican” Naples, came during a time when few tourists were in the area and locals were vacationing, the News-Press notes. Even so, O’Donnell couldn’t have been happy when just five people showed up; the audience was outnumbered by the media.

One of those five people, who is launching his own presidential bid, said he likes O’Donnell because “she’s kind of a rogue like me.” Another audience member tried to get O’Donnell to sign a book on demonology instead of her own book; she refused. Following that disappointing showing, the president of Tea Party of America said last night O’Donnell would speak at the group’s Iowa event, which also features Sarah Palin, this weekend. But he corrected himself today, saying there wasn't actually an open slot. The group’s co-founder, however, tells the Wall Street Journal O’Donnell was taken off the agenda after the group started getting numerous “emails from a lot of Tea Party folks that were very disappointed that she would be speaking.” (More Tea Party stories.)
