Sprint will not only get the iPhone 5 next month, it will also be offering something its competitors aren’t: unlimited data. Or at least, that’s what sources are telling Bloomberg. Neither Sprint nor Apple will comment, as the Sprint iPhone deal hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Further evidence that Sprint would get the device cropped up last week however, when Beatweek reported that Sprint was installing network repeaters in Apple stores.
Right now, the carrier is struggling to keep up with its rivals. “It’s a competitive disadvantage if your two larger competitors have the iPhone and you don’t,” one analyst says. “Getting the iPhone closes that gap.” Sprint already touts its unlimited plan as a selling point, and one analysts thinks offering it for the iPhone would be a draw even for non-power users. “People don’t like bill shock,” he says. “Consumers will pay a premium for unlimited.” (More Sprint stories.)
