Dominique Strauss-Kahn came face-to-face with his other accuser today, as he and Tristane Banon—the French woman who says DSK attempted to rape her—met with investigators. The two were questioned jointly, a practice sometimes used in France as officials determine whether to pursue a case. The meeting was requested by Banon, the AP reports. "I want him in front of me so he can look into my eyes and say to my face that I imagined it," she is quoted as saying by the BBC.
Banon says that during an interview in 2003 when she was 23, Strauss-Kahn tussled with her on the floor, attempted to open her jeans and bra, and touched her mouth and underwear. Strauss-Kahn insists her claims are untrue. Banon is considering suing him if a criminal case does not go forward; meanwhile, hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo has filed her own civil suit against DSK in the US over her own claims of attempted rape. Strauss-Kahn claimed diplomatic immunity Monday and asked for that lawsuit to be dismissed. (More Tristane Banon stories.)
