Said one freed hostage, “He opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape." Clinton was scheduled to attend a meeting in Virginia but canceled her appearance, CNN reports. Neighboring businesses were evacuated, as were Barack Obama’s and John Edwards' Rochester offices. Sharpshooters positioned themselves on roofs, said eyewitnesses, and police communicated with the hostage-taker via megaphone. "We’ve had no security issues, and I’m not even sure this is a threat to her, to my knowledge," a campaign official told the New York Times.
