Feminist author Naomi Wolf was cuffed and hauled off to a police stationhouse after refusing to stay off the street during an Occupy Wall Street protest outside a Manhattan awards ceremony honoring New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The Democratic governor was accepting an award as "game changer of the year," presented by the Huffington Post, where Wolf is a contributor, notes AP. Wolf appeared to be arguing with a cop who was ordering protesters to stop interfering with traffic, when a witness heard the officer say to the writer: "Tell it to the judge."
Wolf, author of The Beauty Myth, had been attending the HuffPo ceremony earlier, but then joined the protesters, reports the Guardian. Demonstrators support continuation of the "millionaires' tax," while Cuomo opposes the tax. Following Wolf's arrest, protesters marched on the nearest stationhouse, but a cop there told them the writer had already been issued a summons and released from another precinct.
