Contractions 10 minutes apart didn’t stop a woman in Scotland from getting her driver’s license—and then speeding off to the hospital to give birth. She’d woken that morning at 4am after her water broke, but ignored her family’s advice and went through with the test anyway. “I had waited so long for my driving test, I was determined to do it,” says Emma French, 20.
She kept it a secret from the examiner “in case he made me cancel the test,” she tells the Daily Mirror. Wanting to make use of her new license right away, French drove herself to the hospital despite her family’s offers to give her a ride. “When I am determined to do something, I don’t stop until it’s done,” even though “everyone must think I’m crazy,” she says. That includes the nurses, who were “confused because I was getting congratulations cards for both my baby and my driving test.” (More Scotland stories.)
