This probably qualifies as good news for Herman Cain: One of his female accusers said through her attorney today that she will not come forward publicly to speak about her sex-harassment allegations. But her statement confirms that she got a settlement from the National Restaurant Association after complaining "about a series of inappropriate behaviors and unwanted advances from the CEO," reports CNN. "She and her husband see no value in revisiting this matter now, nor in discussing this matter further, publicly or privately. In fact it would be extremely painful to do so," it reads.
At the same time attorney Joel Bennett was reading that statement, the NRA issued one of its own. It confirmed the complaint against Cain and the subsequent settlement, noting that it contained no admission of guilt and that Cain "was not a party" to the deal. (Read both statements here.) In a weird footnote, Politico previously reported that the agreement was signed in September of 1999, or 9/99, three numbers dear to Cain's heart.
