Politics | Ron Paul Ron Paul: Elizabeth Warren Is a Socialist But he's not happy with the ultra-rich, either By Evann Gastaldo Posted Nov 8, 2011 1:37 PM CST Copied In this Oct. 18 photo, Ron Paul makes a point during a Republican presidential debate in Las Vegas. (AP Photo/Chris Carlson, File) To say that Ron Paul disagrees with Elizabeth Warren’s ideas about the “social contract” might be a bit of an understatement. Paul told ABC News today that Warren’s gone-viral rant, in which she argued that the rich should pay it forward because the government provided them with infrastructure and education, is wrong. Why is she wrong? “Because she’s a socialist,” Paul explained. He went on to address public schooling specifically: “When the state runs things, that is a socialist idea. I preach home schooling and private schooling and competition.” Warren’s “whole argument is absolutely wrong” because “governments are always destructive in the creation of wealth,” he said, noting that he’s no fan of the ultra-rich either: “I’m pretty critical of the wealth of a lot of millionaires and billionaires because they ripped us off, they got the benefits, they got the bailout.” (Click for Warren's original quote.)
