An airport typically helps you get to your destination—but Singapore's Changi International Airport arguably is a destination. Since opening 30 years ago, it has racked up 370 awards, and with good reason. The Wall Street Journal takes a look at some of Changi's most fabulous features, which, pleasantly, aren't restricted to elite travelers:

  • A nap room, where you can doze for three hours. Price: $23
  • A swimming pool ($11 to access, or free if you're staying at an airport hotel)

  • A free bus tour of Singapore. Bonus: No need to clear immigration.
  • A four-story slide. More fun: movie theaters (with aisles that can accommodate your suitcase). Most unusual fun: a butterfly garden.
  • Showers, yours for $6. Fresh flowers in the bathroom. But the coolest bathroom feature has to be the touch screens, which allow fliers to send text message alerts to restroom attendants should the toilet paper run out.
  • The 750,000 square feet of retail space house everything from jewelers and a grocery store to a dry cleaners and dental center.
  • And, of course, a perk for the rich and famous who are willing to pay the big bucks: The private "Jet Quay" terminal, which features such amenities as plane-side limo service.
