Breakups don't get much worse than this. A British man went on trial this week for allegedly zapping his girlfriend with a stun gun, packing her into a cardboard box, and burying her in the woods—all because he was tired of their relationship. "In a nutshell, this case is about a young man who got bored with his partner, the mother of his child, and decided to get rid of her," prosecutors told the jury, according to the BBC. She survived the ordeal.

According to prosecutors, 25-year-old Marcin Kasprzak and an 18-year-old accomplice attempted to bury 27-year-old Michelina Lewandowska in May—all while telling her she wasn't as good-looking as the women he saw at the gym. But the stun gun failed to knock Lewandowska out, and once he was gone she used her engagement ring to cut the tape binding her limbs, allowing her to crawl out of her shallow grave. Kasprzak and his alleged accomplice say they are innocent of the charges. (More attempted murder stories.)
