Drew Peterson Feels Betrayed
Former Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson leaves his home on his motorcycle in this Monday, Nov 19, 2007 file photo in Bolingbrook, Ill. Defense attorneys know that Drew Peterson keeps going on television to proclaim his innocence in the disappearance of his wife and death of an ex-wife in order...   (Associated Press)

It really got to Drew Peterson: his picture on a pinata at a vigil last weekend for his missing wife, Stacy. The former Illinois police sergeant, a suspect in Stacy's presumed murder, complains to the Chicago Tribune that he's been shunned by friends and former buddies on the force. He laments that police officers "who I would have jumped in front of a bullet for" now give him the cold shoulder.

Peterson says a former friend who sold his story to the National Enquirer was out to turn a profit from Stacy's disappearance. The friend counters that he'll use the money to pay the cellphone bill he racked up talking to reporters, then donate the rest to the search for Stacy. Meanwhile, Peterson's lawyer says cops bungled warrants needed to seize and search his vehicles, and any evidence they found would be inadmissible in court.

"I'd rather be a celebrity for something good," said Peterson, 53. (More Drew Peterson stories.)
