Mitt Romney learned what Medicaid is sometime around 2002, he told a Sioux City, Iowa, crowd today, an admission that Dems are latching on to as yet another sign that he's out of touch. "Medicaid, you wonder what Medicaid is, those that are not into all this government stuff," Romney told the audience, reports Raw Story. "You know, I have to admit I didn’t know all the differences between these things before I got into government. Then I got into it, and I understood that Medicaid is the health care program for the poor."

The AP reports that he later tried to clarify the remark by saying he understood the program but didn't exactly understand how it was funded. (More Medicaid stories.)
