Gadhafi Son in 'Good Physical Condition'

Saif al-Islam Gadhafi is imprisoned in isolation and has not been given access to a lawyer, but the son of Moammar Gadhafi is in “good physical condition,” according to Human Rights Watch. In a 30-minute meeting with the group, Gadhafi called his treatment “OK” and said he is not being tortured by the Libyan authorities holding him. He “says he is getting good food and medical care—he had no complaints about the physical conditions of his detention,” says the rep who interviewed him. “His main concern was the lack of access to family and to a lawyer who can help his case.”

Gadhafi told the rep he was captured while seeking medical treatment for his hand, which was injured in a NATO strike on his convoy. He also confirmed his brother Saif al-Arab was killed in an April airstrike, and that two of Moammar Gadhafi’s grandchildren were killed in another strike. Gadhafi is being visited by a doctor weekly, but has had no access to media.
