Store Clerk Derek Mothershead Knocks Out Armed Burglar
A screen grab from WYFF4 video of the incident.   (WYFF4.com video)

It looked like the thief's lucky day: A shop clerk in North Carolina who was usually armed didn't have his gun on him. But when an armed robber threatened him, the clerk dealt the intruder a knockout punch—and the whole thing was caught on security cameras, WYFF4 reports. After the thief showed We Buy Gold clerk Derek Mothershead his gun, Mothershead offered the man the cash he wanted. But "instead of putting it in the bag, I stuck it out and said, 'Just take it.'"

"When he reached out, I took a step in, I cocked back and preloaded and I hit him hard," Mothershead says. The man was knocked unconscious. Before police arrived, the clerk made the robber—his weapon turned out to be a pellet gun—wipe up his own blood. "At the time you really don’t think you hit somebody as hard as you do, but looking back at the tape I can say I hit him pretty hard, I guess." Click through for video.
