A British mystery is officially a murder mystery: Police say that the human remains discovered on the grounds of Sandringham, the queen's massive rural estate, belong to a woman, and that the case is being treated as a murder. An autopsy scheduled for today will hopefully shed some light on the identity of the victim, as well as her cause of death, reports the AP. It's not clear if the woman, age unknown, was killed on the 20,000-acre estate or moved there after death.
"I cannot confirm whether she was clothed because, at the moment, only my staff, the person who found the body, and the person or people who put it there know that and I would like it to stay that way," said the detective chief inspector, who told the Telegraph that police were reviewing cold case files and missing persons reports in an attempt to ID the woman. Most residents expressed shock. Explained one, "[the site] is just a stone's throw from the Stud and the Royals' house. It is very close." Click for more on the grisly discovery.
