"Tonight, we made history," Mitt Romney told supporters after his decisive win in New Hampshire, which makes him the first non-incumbent GOP candidate to win both the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. The former Massachusetts governor focused on President Obama instead of his GOP rivals in his victory speech. Obama "wants to turn America into a European-style entitlement society," he said. "We want to ensure that we remain a free and prosperous land of opportunity."
Obama "wants to put free enterprise on trial. In the last few days, we have seen some desperate Republicans join forces with him," Romney said, referring to the recent attacks focusing on his time at Bain Capital. Exit polls show that Romney won support from across the ideological spectrum in New Hampshire, even coming in first among evangelical voters, with 27% to Rick Santorum's 26%, Politico reports. He lost the youth vote, however: Only 21% of voters aged 18 to 29 picked Romney, while 46% voted for Ron Paul. (More Mitt Romney stories.)
