Missouri Lawmakers Find Crosshairs on Doors

Barely a year after Gabrielle Giffords was shot after a controversial ad showed rifle crosshairs over her district and those of other Democrats in Congress, five Democratic Missouri state senators and one Republican member of the state House found similar images on their office doors, reports the Columbia Daily Tribune. The legislators include all four Democratic women in the Senate.

“We don’t have any explanation," says one of them, Jolie Justus. "Many of us when we came back to our office this afternoon had gun targets on our nameplates. A few of the senators removed them, only to have them replaced by larger stickers later.” Security in the state Capitol, which has no metal detectors, has been increased, and state police have been asked to investigate. Lawmakers were debating a measure this week to block implementation of President Obama's health care reform, notes the Tribune. (More Missouri stories.)
