Grover Norquist: Soon It's Time to Impeach Obama

Anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist sat down with the National Journal recently to talk tax cuts, Republican majorities, and ... the impeachment of President Obama. Let's start with Norquist's ideal outcome in the 2012 elections: "If the Republicans have the House, Senate, and the presidency ... you extend the Bush tax cuts out for a decade or five years." The impeachment part comes if Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich happen not to win the White House.

In that case, "Obama can sit there and let all the tax [cuts] lapse, and then the Republicans will have enough votes in the Senate in 2014 to impeach. The last year, he’s gone into this huddle where he does everything by executive order. He’s made no effort to work with Congress." The Journal also needles him about Republican lawmakers who seek—dare we say it—tax increases, to which Norquist zings: "There’s no point in spending any time getting too worked up on imaginary conversations about imaginary things."
