Occupiers Sue NYC Pepper-Spray Cop

Two of the women pepper-sprayed in the face by high-ranking NYPD officer Anthony Bologna last fall are taking him to court. The women say Bologna violated their civil rights, and they're seeking unspecified damages, Reuters reports. A YouTube video of the penned-in women being pepper-sprayed received more than 1.5 million hits and helped draw attention to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

One of the women says she is suing to let the NYPD know that Bologna was in the wrong. "I was attending a peaceful demonstration when I was met with what I feel was an undue amount of force," she tells the New York Daily News, adding that while she is usually supportive of the police, Bologna "allowed his emotions to get the best of him." The officer was docked 10 vacation days for violating pepper-spray guidelines.
