Crime | Denver Pair Sentenced for Taking Dead Pal on Bar Crawl Denver pair used corpse's credit card in strip club By Rob Quinn Posted Mar 9, 2012 12:33 AM CST Copied Mark Rubinson, 25, left, and Robert Young, 43, were ordered to write a letter of apology to the friend's family. (AP Photo/Denver Police) Denver's Weekend at Bernie's duo are going to be spending a lot of weekends doing community service for taking a dead friend on a night out—and letting him pick up the tab. Robert Young and Mark Rubinson put their pal, 43, in the back of a car after finding him dead at home, visited bars and restaurants, and used his credit card to pay for drinks at a strip club. They pleaded guilty to abusing a corpse and identity theft, Reuters reports. Young said he believed the friend, who died from a lethal mix of drugs and alcohol, was drunk, not dead. The court sentenced the pair to two years probation, and they will also have to perform community service, submit to drug and alcohol tests, and pay restitution. The prosecutor said the pair's plea bargains were largely due to the dead friend's family members, who leaned toward leniency. Read These Next Trumps ends trade talks with Canada.
