The Atlanta Thrashers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 at home to snap their four-game losing streak. The loss extends Tampa Bay’s own losing streak to three and drops their road record to a miserable 3-12-1, which is the worst in the league. Ilya Kovalchuk scored his league-leading 27th goal for Atlanta and also recorded an assist, reports the AP.

Three different Thrashers each scored goals in the first to give Atlanta a lead that was never threatened. One of those Thrashers was Mark Recchi, the former Penguin, who was claimed off waivers on Dec. 8 and has scored in three of the past four games for his new team. Atlanta goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 32 shots to earn the win. (More hockey stories.)
