A tiny but media-savvy throng of Knicks fans waved an enormous pink slip outside Madison Square Garden today, demanding the firing of beleaguered coach Isiah Thomas, the AP reports. In the latest phase of a campaign to dump Thomas, fans irate over their beloved team's 7-17 record called on the Garden's chief exec to let Isiah go, chanting, ""Fire Isiah! He's got to go! Good-bye!"

One civil rights lawyer in the crowd berated team management for ejecting a fan from a game when the fan displayed a “Fire Isiah” sign. "The Knicks are trampling on what New York is all about--we're outspoken and we're zany at times," he said. “The guy is killing our team,” said another protestor.  “How many 25-point losses can we take?”     (More Isiah Thomas stories.)
