More than $1.5 billion is being spent on security for the London Olympics but the site is still vulnerable to attack, according to a construction worker who smuggled a fake bomb onto the site to prove his point. The worker informed the Sun that he was allowed to enter and exit the site in his digger without security checks and the newspaper gave him the fake device. He drove onto the site with the "bomb" clearly visible in the cab of his digger and posed for photos with it outside Olympic Stadium just 24 hours before its official opening yesterday.

"I can meet anyone on the outside without anyone knowing and bring anything inside without anyone checking," the worker says. "If I had terrorist connections I could be bringing in explosives, chemicals—anything at all. It's a massive security loophole." The British government has ordered the organizers of the Games to investigate the incident, reports the Guardian. Residents of a block of apartments near the site have been informed that surface-to-air missiles may be placed on their rooftop. (More 2012 London Olympics stories.)
