The postseason is over for Denver Nuggets' center Christopher "Birdman" Andersen. The team says he has been "excused indefinitely" from team-related activities while he is under investigation for unspecified Internet crimes against children, reports the Denver Post. Police say Andersen, 33, has been under investigation since February. He has not been charged with any crime, but deputies searched his home yesterday and seized property.
The unit probing Andersen, which opened the investigation after receiving information from a law enforcement agency in California, investigates crimes including child pornography and using the Internet to lure children for sexual purposes. Nuggets coach George Karl says that while he doesn't have much information and has been advised not to speak about the case, "the one thing I will say is, I trust Chris. My years with him, he's been fantastic, and he's really grown as a person. We're going to support him and stand by him." (More Chris Andersen stories.)
