Mel Gibson can't even get along with his own family, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson, the actor's 78-year-old stepmother who married his father in 2001, recently filed for a restraining order against Mel, claiming he has screamed at her numerous times—once so vehemently that he spit in her face. The troubles apparently stem from experimental medical treatments Mel and sister Maura want Hutton Gibson to undergo, but with which Joye disagrees.
The filing recounts a series of disturbing incidents: During one, Joye claims, Mel warned her "not to f*** with [Hutton's] treatments in any way"; in another, after Joye had declined to eat some food he was cooking, Mel allegedly "threatened that if I did not eat he would have me put outside." She also accuses Mel of manipulating his father, a devout Catholic, into filing for divorce, and says she fears for her safety and wants him ordered to stay at least 100 yards away—which should at least take care of any spit issues. The hearing is next month. Click to read all the disturbing incidents. (More Mel Gibson stories.)
