Mitt Romney held three fundraisers at three private residences in the Hamptons yesterday, and protesters arrived by air, land, and sea. Two men were busted after they tried to sail across a pond to crash Romney's fundraiser at the home of Revlon Chairman Ron Perelman, reports the Los Angeles Times. The pair's caper went wrong when they hit a police boat. Both men have been charged on suspicion of "resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing government administration." Police and Romney aides had tightly controlled access to the road leading to Perelman's 75-acre estate.
Romney's second fundraiser of the day was held at the beachfront home of billionaire David Koch, where scores of protesters had air support from a plane towing a banner reading "Romney has a Koch Problem," MSNBC reports. The protesters, some of them waving signs comparing the fundraiser's $50,000 ticket price to their life savings, gathered at the line between the public beach and Koch's home. Romney, who received an estimated $3 million from New York's elite at the event, continues his fundraising blitz with an event in Aspen, Colorado, today. (More Hamptons stories.)
