Mitt Romney hasn't exactly snuggled up to the George W. Bush administration—he's made a point of avoiding even mentioning Dubya's name, usually referring to him only as Obama's "predecessor," for example—but he's not going to let that stand in the way of a good money-making opportunity. None other than Dick Cheney himself is throwing a big-ticket fundraiser in Romney's honor at a Wyoming resort tonight, followed by a private dinner in his home, the AP reports.
Cheney's foreign policy stances, particularly his persistent support for torture, have made him a controversial figure, but he remains a major fundraising draw and is beloved by the GOP's base, which is considerably more skeptical of Romney. Also of note: Liz Cheney will attend the fundraiser, as rumors swirl that she's considering a run for office in Wyoming. (More Mitt Romney stories.)
