A new world record was set and plenty of cash was raised for the Humane Society of New York at a high-society canine wedding last night. The bride was a Coton de Tuléar named Baby Hope Diamond and the groom was a formerly stray poodle called Chilly Pasternak. A Guinness Book of World Records adjudicator was on hand to certify that the extravaganza, which used around $158,000 in donated luxury goods and services, was the most expensive pet wedding ever, the AP reports. The old record was set by a $16,000 cat wedding in Thailand in 1996.

Some 250 people and 50 pooches—many in canine couture designed by Anthony Rufio—attended the ceremony, which was officiated by Triumph the InsuIt Comic Dog. "If these two dogs could talk, they would look around this room and what everyone has done for them," Triumph said. "And they would say, this is insane! Seriously? We're DOGS! You people are cuckoo." (Among the cuckoo details: $30,000 worth of fuschia orchids and $5,000 worth of sushi.) The ceremony went smoothly and Triumph pronounced the couple "dog and bitch," but don't expect any puppies: The bride and groom have both been spayed and neutered, notes the New York Daily News.
