Anderson Cooper doled out an epic takedown of Michele Bachmann and some of her cronies in Congress last night, debunking their idea that Muslim extremists are infiltrating the highest levels of US government. Bachmann and four other Republicans in the House of Representatives want the Inspectors General to investigate this idea, with some of their more serious allegations focused on Hillary Clinton aide (and Anthony Weiner spouse) Huma Abedin. But Cooper scoffed at the so-called "evidence"—or lack thereof—that Abedin is indirectly connected to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Allow Cooper to sum up: "What they have are allegations of past connections of relatives of hers that are tenuous at best," Cooper said. "Huma Abedin's deceased father, who started an organization decades ago, had the support of a guy who had another organization that might have had the support of another organization, the Muslim Brotherhood." He wasn't done yet, going on to specifically ream the less-than-credible source from which the group got its information, as well as Bachmann and another member of the group, Texas congressman Louie Gohmert, for past instances in which they've made similar claims with little or no evidence.
