Colorado Victim Escaped Mall Shooting Last Month

One of the first victims to be identified in Colorado is Jessica Ghawi, an aspiring sports journalist, reports People. Especially wrenching is the fact that last month, she wrote of being in Toronto's Eaton Centre mall just moments before a fatal shooting there. "I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday," she wrote at the time on her blog, using her social media name of Jessica Redfield.

"I saw the terror on bystanders' faces," wrote Ghawi. "I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don't know when or where our time on Earth will end." Her last tweet last night: "Movie doesn't start for 20 minutes." Her brother, Jordan, blogged about getting the call about the shooting here. (More Aurora, Colorado stories.)
