Senate Candidate's Pink Website Is Totes Serious
Vote Mindy Meyer!   (http://mindymeyer4senate.com/)

Mindy Meyer is 22 years old and she is serious about being elected to the New York state Senate. Don't believe it? Just take a look at her campaign website, because nothing says "serious" like a bright pink background, a flashing bling-y banner that reads, "I'm senator and I know it," bumpin' music (an instrumental version of LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It," which inspired the blinged-out slogan), a photograph of the candidate in a bright pink suit, Hunger Games references, and the self-granted nickname, "diva of the district." Even so, for some reason, people don't seem to be taking Meyer seriously, the law student tells Politico.

"One person’s response was, 'Is this a joke?' I’m like, absolutely not," says Meyer, who was inspired by the Reese Witherspoon movie Legally Blonde (we're not making this up). "It’s not like when I do my speeches, I’ll wear young, juvenile pink. Everything’s going to be substantive, just like every other candidate for Senate. The only difference is I’m trying to make it an exciting campaign," Meyer continues. "I went on my opponent’s website, and it was super boring." Meyer's non-traditional website caused some snorts on Twitter, including our favorite: "Mindy Meyer is courting the much sought after 'I thought MySpace was awesome' vote." (Sadly, the website appears to have gone down at the moment.)
