Finally, a reason to eat cheese that is slightly more sound than, "Because it tastes delicious." Turns out the risk of Type 2 diabetes could actually be reduced by 12% for regular cheese eaters, a new study finds. It's counterintuitive, since Type 2 diabetes is often connected to obesity, and cheese is high in saturated fat. But it may also have high levels of good types of fat, the Telegraph explains.

It's also possible that the fermentation process involved in making cheese causes a reaction that protects against diabetes and heart problems, researchers theorize. No other dairy products, with the possible exception of yogurt, showed the same positive effect. But don't go binging on cheese just yet, a diabetes charity warns: More studies are needed to confirm the results. (More cheese stories.)
