Amazon is popping up on the iPad. The massive e-retailer launched an app for its Instant Video Store for Apple's tablet (but not iPhone—yet). The app can stream "Prime content," which is Amazon's version of Netflix Watch Instantly and is included in Amazon's overall Prime service at $79 per year. The app also offers pay-per-view entertainment with the ability to download and watch offline, reports 9to5 Mac.

But what about Amazon's Kindle Fire, one of the first tablets to hold its own against the iPad in the tablet market? "Apple’s lead is still big enough that Amazon doesn’t want to forgo that sizable customer base by limiting its video service to its own device," explains Joel Mathis at PCWorld. (More iPad stories.)
