Jay-Z and Kanye, Damon and Affleck ... Ryan and Romney? Writing for the New York Times, Michael Barbaro gives us an inside look at the relationship between the GOP candidate and his newly-selected running mate, and the two seem to, well, actually like each other. Romney and Ryan will be splitting up in the coming weeks to cover more ground before November, but the two compared schedules behind the scenes, hoping that their paths would cross before long. "Do I get to see him until inauguration?" Romney asked an aide.
Barbaro notes that the two are like "long-lost, hyper-earnest, spreadsheet-loving cousins." They're not afraid to show their affection for each other, either. In their first 48 hours as a team, Ryan and Romney were seen exchanging frequent hugs and backslaps, and during a Wisconsin rally this past Saturday, the two men were both moved to tears. Don't expect their wives to follow suit, however. While Ann Romney is comfortable behind the mic and vocally shows support for her husband, Ryan's wife, Janna, is less eager to step into the spotlight. (More Election 2012 stories.)
