World | Psy 'Horse-Riding' Dance-Off Sparks Gang Shootout Thai gang members start fight by dancing By Neal Colgrass Posted Sep 21, 2012 3:46 PM CDT Copied Host Kevin Hart, left, and South Korean rapper PSY perform onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in Los Angeles. Members of two gangs were eating at the same restaurant in Bangkok when younger gang-bangers began dancing Gangnam-style to provoke the other side. And provoke they did: In the ensuing battle, one gang blasted 50 rounds from an 11mm-gun and a carbine. Miraculously, no one was hurt, but the bad news is that such gang violence is old news in Thailand. A good deal of it happens in vocational colleges and secondary schools, where students use machetes, knives, guns, and sometimes homemade grenades to protect their school's honor. Police logged 1,000 student-rivalry cases in the first half of 2012, and say several students have either died or been injured up to May of this year.
