Thanks to an Internet prank dreamed up by 4chan and Reddit, Massachusetts' Horace Mann School for the Deaf actually did win the contest for a Taylor Swift concert on campus. The bad news: The school was disqualified because of the way it received all the votes. The good news: Since the school wouldn't get the $10,000 prize, Swift decided to donate $10,000 of her own—which was matched by the two sponsor companies and two other companies for a total of $50,000.
Plus, VH1's Save the Music program donated $10,000 in instruments to the school. And, though she won't be performing on campus, Swift gave every student a ticket to her next local show. "Are we the winner? Absolutely," the school principal tells the Boston Globe. He had earlier said his students would love to win the contest because they love live music. Hat tip to Gawker.
