Kentucky, SC: No Booze Sales Tomorrow

Residents of South Carolina and Kentucky who want to toast the winning candidate—or drown their sorrows—tomorrow had better buy that booze today. Yahoo reports on a quirky holdover from Prohibition days: Laws in both states bar the sale of alcohol on Election Day. The bans herald back to a time when saloons doubled as polling stations, and were attempts to prevent people from trading their vote for a drink. Those two states were until recently in good company: Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Utah, and West Virginia have rolled back similar laws in the last four years. (Read more Election 2012 stories.)
