The man handpicked by Gabby Giffords to take her House seat has prevailed by a razor-thin margin, reports the AP via the Huffington Post. Ron Barber, a Giffords aide who was wounded in the leg and cheek in the 2011 Tucson shooting spree, defeated Republican Martha McSally. Barber has been in the Arizona seat since June after winning a special election to serve out Giffords' term, but his bid for a full term had been too close to call until today. Last night, he led by about 1,400 votes out of some 285,000 cast. (More Gabrielle Giffords stories.)
