A pair of TV news anchors in Bangor, Maine, pulled a surprise at the end of yesterday's evening newscast by announcing their resignations, reports the Bangor Daily News. Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio of ABC affiliate WVII bid farewell in relatively low-key fashion, though co-workers didn't know it was coming. Consiglio mentioned "some recent developments" in his farewell, and afterward, they both told the newspaper that they'd grown frustrated with management.
“There was a constant disrespecting and belittling of staff and we both felt there was a lack of knowledge from ownership and upper management in running a newsroom to the extent that I was not allowed to structure and direct them professionally,” said Michaels. She added: “It’s a little complicated, but we were expected to do somewhat unbalanced news, politically, in general," though neither anchor elaborated.
