Roger Clemens filed a defamation lawsuit against former trainer Brian McNamee last night, just before his "60 Minutes" interview aired, the Houston Chronicle reports. McNamee falsely claimed he had injected Clemens with steroids, the lawsuit alleges, when federal agents threatened him with jail time. McNamee’s lawyers say that’s nonsense, since the trainer could only have landed in jail by lying.

Clemens spoke with McNamee by phone on Friday, the New York Times reports, just after the two were asked to testify before Congress, raising allegations of witness tampering. Clemens intends to testify without immunity. “It amazes me that Clemens’ lawyer has allowed him to go on '60 Minutes' and before Congress,” said McNamee’s lawyer, charging that he "is walking Roger Clemens into jail.” (More Roger Clemens stories.)
