Lawyers in Settlement Talks on 'Fast and Furious' Suit

Lawyers for the Justice Department and Darrell Issa's House Oversight panel are trying to settle a Fast and Furious lawsuit themselves in new negotiations, reports CNN and Reuters. Issa's GOP-led committee sued Eric Holder in August to try to force him to hand over documents related to the botched gun operation. The case has been in federal court since, and a judge encouraged the two sides to try to figure out a compromise before she weighed in. Lawyers for the two camps disclosed in court yesterday that they were talking. They'll report in again on Jan. 10. (Read more Fast and Furious stories.)
