A man wielding an AR-15 rifle opened fire at a Portland-area mall tonight, and police say three people are dead, including the gunman, reports the AP. Police say the gunman, who has not been identified, killed himself. The man was wearing camouflage and a mask, and according to the Oregonian may have had body armor on. One of the paper's sports columnists, who was in the mall at the time, reports hearing as many as 60 shots fired.

The mall was put on lockdown, as SWAT teams conducted a store-by-store search. Air traffic over the mall has been restricted, and the ramp to Interstate 205 has been shut down. The shooter appears to have opened fire near Macy's, and reports indicate that another person was injured. One deputy said that the suspect's rifle may have jammed at some point, because an entire magazine was found on the floor. (More mall shooting stories.)
