Three movies dominate the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations today with four nominations each: Lincoln, Les Miserables, and Silver Linings Playbook. All three were nominated in the best lead actor category (for Daniel Day-Lewis, Hugh Jackman, and Bradley Cooper, respectively) as well as the supporting actress category (Sally Field, Anne Hathaway, and Jennifer Lawrence). Two were also nominated in the supporting actor category (Tommy Lee Jones for Lincoln and Robert De Niro for Playbook), and the rest were ensemble nominations.
Maggie Smith also received four nominations, the Los Angeles Times reports: best supporting actress and best ensemble for both a film (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and a TV show (Downton Abbey). Hollywood is gearing up for award season: Critics' Choice nominations were announced Monday, and Golden Globe nominations are out tomorrow. SAG winners often end up winning Oscars, too; those nominations are out Jan. 10. (More Screen Actors Guild stories.)
