Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, and Kanye West were just a few of the music and screen legends who raised millions for Sandy relief last night. Appearing on TV, radio, the Web, and in movie theaters, the 12-12-12 concert had a potential audience of some 2 billion, USA Today reports. Donations streamed in, crashing the concert's website, and the New York Post reports that more than $30 million was raised during the six-hour extravaganza. Among the highlights:

  • Local hero Springsteen kicked off the night with his E Street Band, with Clarence Clemons' nephew on saxophone. Jon Bon Jovi stepped in to sing "Born to Run;" later, he played a set of his own.

  • Adam Sandler offered a parody of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which featured lyrics such as, "Sandy, screw ya/We'll get through ya."
  • Chris Rock proclaimed that so much money was raised, "We've fixed everything."
  • The Rolling Stones performed, with Mick Jagger noting that this was "the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden."
  • A leather-skirt-clad Kanye West performed a medley of his hits.
  • Billy Joel played a host of locally themed songs, from "New York State of Mind" to "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)."
  • Paul McCartney closed the show, joined onstage by Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Sir Paul brought Alicia Keys onstage to finish the night with "Empire State of Mind."
  • Other stars on hand: Jamie Foxx, Ben Stiller, Kristen Stewart, Chris Martin, Michael Stipe, Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Katie Holmes, Sean Combs, the Who, Jimmy Fallon, Olivia Wilde, and more.
