Obamas Arrive in Hawaii

President Obama and his family arrived in Honolulu this morning for the Christmas holiday. The Obamas have a low-key visit planned, with no public events on the schedule, reports AP. Given that talks on the fiscal cliff are on hold until after the break, it looks like the president won't have to make any early exits for DC. Before they left, Obama and first lady Michelle recorded the weekly address together and asked Americans to keep in mind service members who will be spending the holidays away from home, notes the Hill.

"Let’s give thanks for our veterans ... and let’s say a prayer for all our troops—especially those in Afghanistan—who are spending this holiday overseas, risking their lives to defend the freedoms we hold dear," the president said. (More Obama family stories.)
