Jacintha Saldanha's suicide in the wake of the Kate Middleton prank call was actually her third attempt on her own life, reports the Daily Mail, citing Indian newspaper reports. Saldanha tried to kill herself while in India last December by overdosing on pills, but survived after being rushed to the hospital. Nine days later, she leaped from a building; after that attempt she was admitted to a psych ward and put on a nine-month course antidepressants.

“Jacintha never wanted the family to know of the incident and we played a behind-the-scene role," her brother tells the Telegraph. “Even this incident was not discussed at home for the knowledge of it would have hurt my ailing mother. We told her that Jacintha was admitted to hospital for blood pressure problems.” (More Jacintha Saldanha stories.)
