Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey pulled in $32.9 million this week to rule the box-office roost for a third consecutive week, relegating Quentin Tarantino's controversial Django Unchained to the No. 2 spot, with $30.7 million. Les Miserables was close by in third place, with $28 million. And Hollywood looks set to end the year with a record-breaking bang, notes the Hollywood Reporter: Revenues for 2012 are set to hit $10.8 billion tomorrow, up 5.8% over last year and topping the previous record of $10.6 billion in 2009.
